Bhubaneswar: The administration in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district has sacked a school teacher for submitting a forged caste certificate at the time of joining the job around 20 years ago.
Jagatsinghpur Collector removed Susanta Kumar Mandal, a Sikshya Sahayak at Brundaban Bihari Government High School at Goda under Erasama block, from service after conducting a detailed investigation into the issue.
As per reports, Mandal had been appointed as a Sikshya Sahayak at the government high school in 2007. He had submitted a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate to secure the job.
Subsequently, the appointment was challenged in the Orissa High Court. While disposing the case, the HC had directed the Jagatsinghpur Collector to conduct a detailed investigation into the issue and take appropriate steps in this regard.
During investigation, the Jagatsinghpur Collector came to know that Mandal had secured the caste certificate by misleading the authorities concerned.
As per the direction of the Collector, the authorities of Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan (SSA) in Jagatsinghpur removed Mandal from service.
