Bhubaneswar/Puri: In an effort to ensure a smooth and safe journey for devotees travelling to Puri during the world-famous Rath Yatra, Odisha’s Commerce and Transport Department has announced to provide real-time traffic updates along the Puri route.
According to official sources, LED screens will be installed at key locations such as Uttara Square and other major points in Bhubaneswar to provide live traffic information, enabling travellers to plan their journey more efficiently.
To manage congestion and streamline vehicular movement between Bhubaneswar and Puri, advanced arrangements have been put in place in coordination with the Puri Police.
Special assistance centres have also been set up at Malatipatpur and Talabania for Dibyang (persons with disabilities) and senior citizens. These centres are equipped with essential facilities including wheelchairs, bio-toilets, designated rest areas, drinking water, and first aid services. Additionally, free shuttle bus and e-rickshaw services are being provided to help devotees reach their destinations conveniently.
Temporary rest sheds have been established at multiple locations, along with arrangements for free cooked food distribution for pilgrims.
Dedicated help desks and information centres have been made operational to guide devotees and provide necessary assistance throughout their journey.
To enhance road safety, enforcement teams along with Intelligent Enforcement Management Systems (IEMS) have been deployed to monitor traffic violations. Breakdown services and cranes have also been stationed at strategic points to offer immediate assistance in case of vehicle breakdowns.
These comprehensive measures aim to facilitate a hassle-free and safe travel experience as a large number of devotees are expected to attend the grand festival.
