Bhawanipatna: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday launched simultaneous raids at six locations linked to Bhubaneswar Sabar, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Division, Bhawanipatna, over allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The searches were carried out by a Vigilance team comprising six DSPs, eight Inspectors and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

The raids are being conducted at six locations in Kalahandi district, including Sabar’s residential buildings, office, government quarters and farmhouse.

According to Vigilance officials, searches were conducted at his double-storeyed house at Gosanimunda in Bhawanipatna town, another double-storeyed building at his native village Kusumkhunti under Koksara block, a farmhouse at Kitpadar near Bhawanipatna, an under-construction building at Duarsuni, his office in Bhawanipatna and his government residential quarters at PWD Colony.

Multiple buildings and farmhouse unearthed during searches

During the searches, Vigilance officials unearthed several immovable assets allegedly linked to Sabar and his family members.

The assets detected so far include a 4,500 sq ft double-storeyed building at Gosanimunda, a 2,625 sq ft double-storeyed house at Kusumkhunti, a 4,228 sq ft under-construction building at Moter Chhak in Koksara, and another under-construction double-storeyed building at Kusumkhunti.

Officials also traced a market complex comprising eight cabins at Moter Chhak and a farmhouse spread across nine acres at Kitpadar.

In a significant finding, Vigilance teams identified 33 plots of land covering around 39.64 acres located on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna and Koksara. The plots are spread across areas including Talabelagaon, Kutenpadar, Moter, Dwarsuni and Kitpadar in Kalahandi district.

Apart from immovable assets, officials have also detected a Hyundai Creta car. Verification of bank deposits, postal savings and other financial investments is currently underway.

The Vigilance Technical Wing has been engaged to assess the measurement and valuation of the buildings, farmhouse, market complex and landed properties.

Search operations were continuing till the filing of this report, and Vigilance officials said further details would emerge after completion of the investigation.
