Sambalpur: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday unearthed two buildings, 20 valuable land plots, cash worth over Rs 19.72 lakh, a Hyva truck, a four-wheeler and several other assets during simultaneous searches linked to Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent of VIMSAR, Burla, in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets (DA) case.

The searches were launched following allegations that Biswal possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, teams comprising two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), five Inspectors, three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and supporting staff conducted raids at four locations in Sambalpur district.

The searches were carried out at Biswal's double-storeyed residence at Dhankauda, another building at Gudesinga, his government quarter at the Medical Staff Colony of VIMSAR, Burla, and his office chamber in the Office of the Superintendent at VIMSAR.

Cash, buildings, land plots and vehicles recovered during Vigilance searches

According to Odisha Vigilance, the searches have so far led to the detection of the following assets in the names of Biswal and his family members:

• A residential double-storeyed building measuring approximately 1,650 sq ft at Dhankauda, Sambalpur.
• Another building at Gudesinga in Sambalpur district.
• Twenty valuable plots located on the outskirts of Sambalpur town.
• Cash amounting to Rs 19,72,490.
• One Hyva truck.
• One Renault Kiger four-wheeler.
• Two tractors.
• Three two-wheelers.

Vigilance officials said the Technical Wing is currently measuring and assessing the value of the buildings and land plots. The weighing of gold jewellery recovered during the searches is also underway.

Authorities are further verifying bank and postal deposits, along with investments in other financial instruments, to ascertain the total value of the assets allegedly held by the official.

Odisha Vigilance said the searches are still in progress, and further details regarding the case and the total assets unearthed will be released after completion of the operation.
