Bhubaneswar: In a major relief for thousands of aspirants, the Odisha government has rescheduled the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 to July 5, resolving a scheduling conflict with the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) recruitment examination that was also slated for June 28.

The decision was announced on Tuesday after concerns were raised by candidates who had applied for both examinations and faced the prospect of appearing for them on the same day.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said the OSSSC recruitment examination for various posts, including Revenue Inspector (RI), ICDS Supervisor, Village Agricultural Worker (VAW), Junior Assistant, Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI), Amin and Statistical Field Surveyor (SFS), will be conducted as scheduled on June 28.

“About 16,000 candidates are expected to appear for the RI and Amin examinations on June 28. Following discussions with the School and Mass Education Department, it has been decided to reschedule the OTET examination to July 5,” the minister said.

Confirming the development, the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha issued a press release stating that the OTET Examination 2026, originally scheduled for June 28, will now be held on July 5.

According to the revised schedule, Paper-I will be conducted from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, while Paper-II will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

The Board also clarified that candidates who have already downloaded their admit cards need not download them again, as the previously issued admit cards will remain valid for the rescheduled examination.

The scheduling conflict arose after the OSSSC postponed its recruitment examination from June 20 to June 28 due to unavoidable circumstances linked to the NEET (UG) 2026 examination. The revised date coincided with the OTET, prompting widespread concern among candidates.

Following the announcement, several aspirants launched social media campaigns and sent representations via email, urging authorities to reconsider the examination schedule. Many candidates highlighted that they would be forced to choose between the two important examinations despite being eligible for both.

Responding to the concerns, the state government coordinated with the School and Mass Education Department and the Board of Secondary Education to revise the OTET schedule, ensuring that candidates can appear for both examinations without any clash.

The move has been welcomed by aspirants across the state, who had been demanding a resolution since the revised OSSSC examination date was announced.
