Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on October 25 to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) data centre at Jatani near Bhubaneswar. The facility, built at an estimated cost of Rs 170 crore, is expected to strengthen data security and support the state’s digital infrastructure.
The Prime Minister will arrive at Bhubaneswar airport at around 4.30 pm. After inaugurating the data centre at Jatni, he is scheduled to depart Odisha at around 6.30 pm, informed Jatin Mohanty, vice-president of the Odisha BJP.
The data centre has been developed to help ensure the security and protection of Indian citizens’ data. Odisha is hosting the country’s second RBI data centre, according to Mohanty.
He said Modi had personally selected Odisha for the project, describing it as a significant step towards advancing the state’s digital development and strengthening its position in the technology sector.
Boost to Odisha’s digital infrastructure
The RBI data centre is expected to contribute to Odisha’s growing digital infrastructure and enhance its profile as an emerging destination for technology-related investments.
Mohanty said the project reflected the Prime Minister’s commitment to Odisha, pointing to semiconductor-related investments and the RBI data centre as examples of the Centre’s focus on the state’s development.
The proposed inauguration comes amid efforts to expand Odisha’s presence in the technology and electronics manufacturing sectors.
The RBI facility at Jatani is expected to play an important role in strengthening the country’s data infrastructure while contributing to the state’s digital growth.
