Bhubaneswar: Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were taken to the Adapa Mandap of Srigundicha temple from their respective chariots at Saradhabali in Odisha’s Puri city on Saturday.

The deities were taken to the Adapa Mandap through the ceremonial Pahandi procession in the evening. The servitors first carried the idols of Ramakrushna and Madanmohan to the Srigundicha temple as part of the ‘Adapa Mandap Bije’ ritual of the Rath Yatra . They later carried Lord Sudarshan to Adapa Mandap of the shrine.

Subsequently, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were taken to the Adapa Mandap through ‘Goti Pahandi’ from their respective chariots.

The sibling deities will be worshipped on the Adapa Mandap of Srigundicha temple till the Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Festival), scheduled to be held in the Holy City on July 24.

The deities had embarked upon their annual journey to Srigundicha temple for a nine-day sojourn by riding their majestic chariots on the Grand Road on the occasion of Rath Yatra on July 16.

After making a night halt midway, they reached Saradhabali in front of Srigundicha temple on July 17. 

The devotees will be allowed to pay obeisance to the deities at Adapa Mandap from Sunday. Adapa Abadha will also be made available for the devotees from tomorrow, said an official.
