Bhubaneswar: The administration has imposed restrictions on the plying of heavy vehicles on two key routes in Odisha’s Puri district to facilitate hassle-free travel of devotees to Alarnath temple at Brahmagiri from June 30 to July 13.

Puri Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida imposed the restrictions in accordance with Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act-1988 and Section 173 of Odisha Motor Vehicle Rules-1993.

“No heavy vehicle will be allowed on two routes—Mangala Ghat to Satapada and Khajuria to Brahmagiri Market Square—from 6 am to 10 pm between June 30 to July 13 to facilitate smooth movement of devotees during Alarnath Yatra,” said the district administration on Saturday.

The operators of the heavy vehicles have been advised to opt for alternative routes to avoid inconvenience, it added.

It is worth mentioning here that thousands of devotees throng Alarnath shrine at Brahmagiri during the ‘Anasara’ ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Puri temple.

As per the tradition, the ‘Anasara’ ritual of the deities is scheduled to commence soon after the Snana Yatra on June 29.
