Bonaigarh: Two people, including a man and a woman, died in separate snakebite incidents in Odisha's Sundargarh district, police said on Saturday.

Both victims were rushed to the Bonaigarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared them dead.

The first incident was reported from Teldiha village under Bonaigarh police limits. The deceased has been identified as Parshuram Kisan. According to reports, he had gone outside his house to answer nature's call when he was bitten by a venomous snake. Family members immediately rescued him and took him to the Bonaigarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, but doctors could not save his life.

In another incident, Raimuni Munda, a resident of Phuljhar village, died after being bitten by a venomous snake while staying at her mother's house in Bhaliadihi village under Kurda Panchayat in the Lahunipada police limits.

She was reportedly sleeping at night when the snake bit her. Family members initially took her to a local traditional healer for treatment. However, as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the Bonaigarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, where she was declared dead during treatment.

Following information from the victims' families, police from Bonaigarh and Lahunipada reached the hospital, seized the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination.

Separate cases of unnatural death have been registered in both incidents, and police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
