Low pressure likely to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and south Bangladesh has intensified into a low pressure area which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha during the next 24 hours, the Regional Meteorological Centre predicted.

In the next 24 hours, the system is likely to move towards southwestward north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha. Condition is very favourable for advancement of southwest monsoon in remaining parts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, a bulletin of the Meteorological Centre said.

Under its impact, heavy to very heavy rain in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and heavy rain in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Ganjam, Koraput and Rayagada is likely to occur during the next 24 hours, the bulletin said, adding that moderate rainfall is likely to take place in interior and western parts of Odisha.

Sea condition in Odisha coast would be rough in the next 48 hours for which fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea during the period.
