Minor reshuffle in Odisha police

Cuttack:  Odisha government today effected a minor reshuffle in State police and appointed controversial IPS Officer Satish Gajabhiye as Superintendent of Police (SP), Computer, official sources said.

The 2002-batch IPS officer was recently reinstated by the Home Department and posted at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.

Gajbhiye was suspended in August 2015 over alleged brutal assault of people demonstrating in Kendarapra demanding action against cntoversial self-styled godman Santosh Raula alias Sarathi Baba on August 7 and for acquisition and alleged encroachment during his tenure as S P Kendrapara.

According to a Home Department notification, K C Samal has been appointed as DCP (Traffic), Bhubaneswar.

Prasant Kumar Jena was posted as SP, CID, Crime Branch, the notification added.

Senior Odisha Police Service (OPS) officer Gopabandhu Pati has been appointed as SP (in-charge) of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of State Crime Branch.
