Rourkela: The Regional Sports Meet 2025 commenced with great splendour on 8th July at the iconic Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela. Hosted by PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Bondamunda, the three-day extravaganza saw the participation of over 500 athletes from various Kendriya Vidyalayas across the Bhubaneswar Region.

The event was ceremoniously inaugurated with the raising of the Sports Meet Flag, followed by the lighting of the torch by the Chief Guest, K. Umamaheswar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela. In his address, he praised the zeal, discipline, and energy of the young athletes. Guest of Honour, R.C. Gond, Assistant Commissioner, KVS Bhubaneswar Region, also inspired the gathering with his encouraging words.

Host Principal Hemlata Nayak highlighted the importance of sportsmanship and team spirit. Dignitaries present included P. Neerja, Principal, KV NIT Rourkela, and Sujit Kumar Roy, Principal, KV Sector-6. Over 30 events were conducted on Day 1, setting the tone for the grand celebration that will continue till 10th July.
