Cuttack: In the wake of heavy damage of crops due to pest attack, a scientist of National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) has developed five new varieties of paddy that could be produced in all types of climate.

Eminent scientist Sharat Kumar Pradhan developed five new varieties of paddy, out of which two varieties have been named after Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose respectively.

The five new kinds of paddy included -- Santha Bhima, Subash, Ruchi, Sarumina and Mahamani. The chief specialty of Pradhan's latest invention is that these paddy seeds will not be easily affected by the dangerous paddy bugs like
Brown Plant Hopper or Chakada, Patramoda, Kandabindha and others and the possibility of crop damage will be minimal.

The new varieties of paddy can be yielded in adverse situation, said Dr Pradhan.

These new paddy seeds will be available for the farmers with approval of the state government very soon.
