Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to commuters, the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association (AOPBOA) today called off its proposed indefinite bus strike that was scheduled to begin from November 1.

This was informed to the media by AOPBOA Spokesperson Debasish Nayak this evening.

According to Nayak, the association has decided to call off the proposed strike after a meeting with State Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu and departmental secretaries.

“The State government has agreed to fulfil our 11-point charter of demands and therefore, we are cancelling our proposed November 1 strike across Odisha,” association General Secretary Debendra Sahu told reporters here at a press meet.

Notably, the AOPBOA had announced that about 17,000 private buses plying in different towns and villages of the State will remain off the road from November 1 and as many as 1,200 private buses will remain off the road from Baramunda bus stand alone demanding fulfilment of their various demands.
