Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government changed the name of 'Biju Patnaik Sports Award' to 'Odisha Rajya Krida Samman'.

With renaming the award, the State Sports & Youth Services Department has issued guidelines for 'Odisha Rajya Krida Samman' to honour achievers in field of Sports.

As per the guidelines, Rajya Krida Samman will be awarded in the following eight (8) categories subject to the availability of suitable candidates.

(i) Samman for Life-time Achievement for promotion of Sports and Games, which will carry cash award of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakh only)

(ii) Samman for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games for the year, which will carry cash award of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakh only)

(iii) Samman for Excellence in Coaching, which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)

(iv) Samman for Best Contribution to Promotion of sports and games, which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)

(v) Samman for excellence in Sports Journalism, which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)

(vi) Samman for Para-Sports person of the year, which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)

(vii) Samman for Upcoming Athlete of the Year (Junior Category),which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)

(viii) Samman for Sports Technical Official(s)/Support Staff of the year, which will carry cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh
only)

The recipients will be honoured with the cash award along with other deliverables as approved by the Government.
