Balangir: The Government Railway Police (GRP) last night seized Rs 4.68 lakh fake currency notes from a person after he allegedly attacked a CRPF jawan in Hatia-Yesvantpur Express train near Titlagarh station in Odisha's Balangir district.

According to reports, Rama Chandra Bhoi of Bhatli in Bargarh district, the accused, and a CRPF jawan were travelling in the same bogie of the train yesterday. Suspecting foul play over suspicious behaviour of Bhoi, the jawan had a conversation with him. However, Bhoi allegedly attacked him with a knife and tried to flee the spot.

The jawan sustained injuries in the attack but managed to nab Bhoi and informed Titlagarh GRP about the incident. After the train reached Titlagarh, GRP officials detained Bhoi and searched his bag inside which Rs 4.68 lakh fake currency notes in denominations of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 were found.

The cops have sized the counterfeit notes and started investigation into the matter.
