Odisha: Naveen elected BJD legislature party chief

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Supremo Naveen Patnaik was elected as the leader of legislature party here today ahead of formation of new government in Odisha.

The elected members of the BJD chose him as their leader at a meeting held at the party office in Bhubaneswar.

Shortly after being elected as the party leader, Naveen met Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal to stake claim to form the new government under his leadership.

Naveen will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth consecutive term during a programme scheduled at IDCO Exhibition Ground on May 29.

Worth mentioning, Naveen-led BJD has won 112 seats in 147-seat Assembly in the recently concluded polls. The polls were conducted in 146 assembly segments in four phases excluding Patkura following demise of Bed Prakash Agarwalla, who was the BJD nominee from the assembly constituency.
