Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today asked the state ST & SC Development Department to provide an interim aid of Rs 50,000 to the mother of Kunduli 'gangrape' victim.

The human rights body also asked the state government to make necessary arrangements for her admission in Eklavya Model School and facilitate the minor girl's education.

The OHRC has posted the next hearing of the matter to November 27.

Earlier in the day, Superintendent of Koraput-based Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Sitaram Mohapatra deposed before the commission and submitted the medical report of the victim.

Worth mentioning, the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) of Odisha police had said the medical reports revealed that the minor girl was not gang-raped as claimed by herself and her family.

On the other hand, a four-member team of Odisha Crime Branch, which had reached Koraput yesterday, started its investigation into the case today.

It may be recalled here that the class-IX student of Kunduli had alleged that she was gang raped by a group of security personnel on October 10 while returning from school.

A case under Sections 376 (D) and 377 of IPC and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been registered.
