Odisha sand artist Sudarsan sculpts 'Biggest Sand Turtle' on World Environment Day

Puri: Internationally-acclaimed sand artist from Odisha, Sudarsan Pattnaik has sculpted "Biggest Sand Turtle" at Puri sea beach on the occasion of World Environment Day with a message of curbing plastic pollution.

The mesmerizing sand art is 50 ft long and 30 ft wide with installation of plastic bottles on it.

Similarly, sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo has also created a sand art on the beach showing how plastic wastes have badly affected the environment and the planet. The sand art is 20 ft wide and has been created using 20 tonnes of sand after a seven-hour long effort.

Notably, World Environment Day occurs on the 5th of June every year and is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of environment. First held in 1974, it has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on emerging environmental issues.
