Bhubaneswar: The body of a married woman was exhumed in Odisha’s Nuapada district today after her mother approached police to find out the cause behind her death.

The partially-decomposed body of Mina Majhi, wife of Anantaram Majhi, was exhumed at Hirapur village under Sinapali police limits in Nuapada.

The couple had tied the knot around eight years ago and they have a seven-year-old son. Anantaram works in Goa.

As per the complaint, Mina had died on July 9. Her body was immediately buried by her in-laws at the village cremation ground.

A day after the incident, Mina’s mother lodged a complaint with Sinapali police and urged the cops to find out the cause behind her death.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by Mina’s mother, the police and a scientific team exhumed the body in the presence of Sinapali BDO Abinash Lakra.

The police have registered an unnatural death case and sent the body to Balangir for postmortem. They have also initiated a probe into the incident.
