Odisha's Bijepur gets NAC tag ahead of by-poll

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha governemnt today decided to grant Notified Area Council (NAC) status to Bijepur in Bargarh district ahead of by-poll in the constituency.

A sub-registrar office will also be set up in Bijepur, reports said.

The government had earlier decided to implement state’s first underground pipeline based irrigation system namely Gangadhar Meher Lift Canal System for Bijepur.

Worth mentioning, Bijepur assembly seat fell vacant after the demise of Congress MLA Subal Sahu on August 22.

Sahu's wife Rita and son Sumit later joined BJD following which party supremo Naveen Patnaik declared her as the candidate of the BJD for the by-poll.
