Bhubaneswar: Odisha government decided to provide accommodation facility to school teachers and employees by allotting quarters in the school campus.

The allotment process has begun by the School & Mass Education department on recommendation by the State Assembly Standing Committee proposal.

Acting on the recommendation, School & Mass Education Joint Secretary Biswanath Sethy directed Primary and Secondary Education Director to submit a report on infrastructure for the construction of quarters and requirement of land for the houses by October 31.

The Standing Committee had given a proposal recommending free distribution of clothes to students upto Class X, allotment of quarters to teachers and staff in government aided schools, commencement of Chatasali patha (local education courses) in anganwadis to strengthen the primary education system in the state.

With the introduction of Chatasali courses, the skills of students in anganwadis will be developed, as per the proposal of standing committee.

Besides, the standing panel had also recommended for the schools completing 25 years having their own playground on the premises to get Rs 10 lakh as financial assistance, which will be spent for development of the playground organising various competitions and games.

The committee gave proposal for increasing the funds provided to block grant and government aided high schools and upper primary schools before construction of infrastructures and school buildings. It also proposed to hike the amounts released for various schemes of the School & Mass Education department.

Besides, several other proposals were recommended by the committee. It includes, appointment of law officers in various directorates of the department for disposing the cases lying pending in the courts, filling up of the posts after retirement of teachers and employees in government schools, appointment of woman superintendent/matron in girls hostels in state run high schools and salary for graduate teachers with having B.Ed, CT and DIET training like regular teachers.
