Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly killed his 60-year-old father at Gandapada village under Thelkoloi police limits in Odisha's Sambalpur district last night over a dispute between the two which emerged after the accused complained of tasteless dinner.

According to police sources, a heated exchange of words erupted between Sitaram Makar, the deceased, and his son Sanjeev as he opposed the latter's act of creating ruckus in the house alleging the cooked dinner being tasteless.

Moments later, Sanjeev stabbed his father Sitaram with a knife while he was sleeping inside a room. Hearing screams of Sitaram, the family members rushed to the spot but failed to save him as he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have arrested the accused son and started investigation into the incident. The body has been seized and sent for post-mortem.
