Malkangiri: A person was shot dead by Maoists at Kurub village under Kalimela police limits in Odisha's Malkangiri district late last night on suspicion of being a police informer.
The deceased was identified as Dambaru Nayak. According to reports, around 20 armed Maoists barged into the house of Nayak and dragged him outside.
The ultras later held a 'praja court' where he was killed in front of other villagers. Before leaving the spot, the red rebels left a letter in which it has been mentioned that they killed Nayak as he was working as a police informer and passing information to cops on movement of Maoists.
Worth mentioning, Nayak was earlier a Maoist sympathizer and had surrendered before police two years ago.
His family members said the Maoists had earlier threatened him not to work for police.
