Pipili: In a shocking incident, a 76-year-old man allegedly attempted to rape his daughter-in-law at Satasankha village under Pipili police station in Puri district.

The incident came to fore after the woman, who has a 12-year-old son, lodged a complaint against her father-in-law, a retired RPF Inspector, with Pipili police last night. The woman has also produced a video of her father-in-law’s illicit act before the cops as proof.

As per the complaint, since the victim’s husband Panchu Mallick works as a railway staff and stays outside the state, her father-in-law outraged her modesty several times. Though she had brought the matter before her husband and other members in the house, her plight fell on deaf ears. The woman also alleged that she has been subjected to physical and mental torture by her husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.

With no option left, the hapless woman decided to take the help of law to save herself. To gather proof against the father-in-law, she managed to capture a video with her mobile phone when he was attempting to rape her in the house. Last night, she lodged a complaint at Pipili police station.

“My in-laws used to harass me mentally and physically while my husband does not care about it. Since he stays outside, my father-in-law took advantage of this. He had attempted to rape me last time on August 8. Now I am staying at my parents’ house. I want justice and strong action against all of them,” said the victim.

Pipili Police Station IIC Sarat Chandar Sahu said “We have registered a case in this connection. Appropriate action will be taken after investigation.”
