Bhubaneswar: BJD president Naveen Patnaik today announced the formation of a social service wing of the party while flagging off the Jansampark Padayatra on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Kargil Basti near Bhimatangi here.

Plantation, blood donation and health assistance will be the major focus of the wing. The objective would be to make Odisha clean and green, and keep the people of the state healthy, Patnaik said at the launching ceremony of the people's connect drive, which will continue till October 11.

"Among all activities of our party, social service is my favourite. I want the young workers of our party to join the movement and make it a powerful one," he said.

Patnaik also advised the party workers to know the issues of people during the Jansampark Padayatra and make them aware regarding the welfare measures of the government.
