Bhubaneswar: The state government will provide career counselling to the students of Class IX and X under the Student Aspiration Programme, which has been launched on a pilot basis in 300 high schools transformed under the Mo School Abhiyan in Odisha.

“Now, parents are interested to send their kids to government schools. So, we should introduce all possible measures to boost the confidence of government school students. Career counselling would be provided to the students of Class IX and X to ensure a better future for them,” said Mo School Abhiyan chairperson Susmita Bagchi while reviewing the implementation of Student Aspiration Programme through videoconference today.

Bagchi also asked the District Education Officers (DEOs) and headmasters to take the necessary steps to provide vocational training to students and make them proficient in mathematics, science and computer science.

She also put emphasis on overall development of students in the schools transformed under the Mo School Abhiyan. “Our students should have good communication skills. Teachers should try to improve the English speaking capacity of our students. They can solicit the help of former students and school mentors in this regard,” Bagchi said the meeting.

The School and Mass Education department has planned to extend the Student Aspiration Programme to all schools transformed under the Mo School Abhiyan in the state, Bagchi added.
