Balangir: In a shocking incident, a courier delivery executive was allegedly attacked with a knife after asking for an address in Odisha’s Balangir district. The incident took place at Jhankarpali village under Khaprakhol police limits.

The injured courier boy has been identified as Pintu Sahoo, a resident of Bhaludunguri village under Khaprakhol police station. According to reports, Pintu had travelled from Khaprakhol to Jhankarpali village to deliver an online order.

While trying to locate the recipient’s house, Pintu reportedly asked a local youth for directions. The youth, identified as Prakash Singh Bariha, allegedly became enraged without any apparent provocation and attacked the delivery executive with a sharp knife, injuring his hand.

Sources said the accused allegedly attempted to assault him again, but Pintu managed to escape from the spot and rushed to safety. He later received treatment at a nearby hospital before lodging a complaint at the Khaprakhol police station.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Khaprakhol police station IIC Narendra Chhatra said the accused, Prakash Singh Bariha, was arrested following the probe and has been produced before a local court.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
