Bhubaneswar: Preliminary investigation into the murder of a youth in the Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar has revealed an alleged extramarital affair may have been the motive behind the crime, Bhubaneswar DCP Jaga Mohan Meena informed on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sushil Singh. The incident occurred in the Gadakana area of Om Sai Vihar under the jurisdiction of Mancheswar police station.

According to police, Sushil was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with the wife of Nilakantha Mohanty, which is believed to have triggered the fatal attack.

Police sources said Nilakantha Mohanty allegedly attacked Sushil with a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries to his neck, leading to his death.

Upon receiving information, Mancheswar police reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and arrested the accused. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

A detailed investigation has been launched to establish the exact sequence of events and gather further evidence. More details are awaited as the probe continues.
