Bhubaneswar: Acting swiftly on reliable information, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday raided a location in the Bharatpur area and rescued a minor boy who had been abducted. Six B.Tech students have been arrested in connection with the case.

The victim, identified as Prince, was allegedly kidnapped by a group of miscreants while he was on his way to a shop in the Kalinga Vihar area. The abduction reportedly took place near SUM Hospital.

Based on a complaint filed by Mohammed Sakil, Bharatpur police launched an immediate operation and successfully rescued the minor from captivity.

According to reports, the accused, engineering students, had demanded a ransom of ₹1 lakh for the boy’s release.

Police sources said the case was cracked within one and a half hours of the kidnapping. They added had the accused managed to move the victim out of the city, the rescue operation could have taken longer.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of others and gather more details about the incident.
