Kendujhar: In a shocking incident from Kendujhar district, a youth allegedly killed his former lover and buried her body in a forest. The decomposed body of the victim was exhumed by police nearly 25 days after the crime.

The deceased has been identified as Anita Mahakud of Jhadgaon village under Barbil police limits. According to reports, Anita was in a relationship with a youth named Sangram Alada from the same village.

However, tensions escalated after Anita reportedly ended her relationship with Sangram and became involved with another youth. Enraged over this, Sangram allegedly planned and murdered her on May 11.

After committing the crime, the accused buried the body in the Raidha Siddhamath reserved forest in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Following Anita’s disappearance, her family members lodged a complaint with the police, prompting an investigation. Suspecting foul play during the probe, police apprehended the accused.

During interrogation, Sangram confessed to the crime and led police to the spot where he had buried the body. Subsequently, the decomposed remains were recovered from the forest.

Further investigation is underway.
