Balasore: A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in Simulia area in Odisha's Balasore district for proposing love to a woman. 

Love proposal sparks brutal assault in Balasore

The deceased has been identified as Subash Sutar of Purushottampur panchayat. According to reports, Subash had allegedly expressed his love to a woman from Birabrahmapur village in Kanchapada panchayat over the phone.

Enraged over this, the woman’s father, Bhagaban Kar, along with an associate, allegedly abducted Subash in a vehicle and took him to a school premises in Birabrahmapur. He was then tied to a concrete pillar near an anganwadi centre and brutally assaulted.

Subash sustained critical injuries and was initially admitted to a local hospital in Simulia. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Bhadrak, where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, the victim’s brother-in-law Bhabesh Nayak lodged a complaint at Simulia police station, alleging that Bhagaban Kar and his relative were responsible for the killing.

Police have detained one person in connection with the case and launched an investigation. Further details are awaited.
