Koraput: In an unsettling incident, a woman’s body was found hanging from a tree within 24 hours of her being reported missing, raising strong suspicions of foul play.

The incident occurred in Panchadapadar village under Gadiaguda panchayat in Koraput district. The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Muska, daughter of Krishna Muska of Kanapadi village under Laxmipur block.

According to reports, Jayanti was married to Pabitra Saunta of Panchadapadar village. On June 10, Pabitra reportedly visited Jayanti’s parental home and informed her family that she had gone missing.

Following a frantic search, Jayanti’s body was discovered on Saturday, hanging from a tree about one kilometre from Panchadapadar village.

Alleging foul play, Jayanti’s father, Krishna Muska, has lodged a complaint at Dasmantpur police station. In his complaint, he accused Jayanti’s husband and his family members of murdering her in a premeditated manner and later hanging the body to stage it as a suicide.

Upon receiving the information, police officials rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.

Police said further inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
