Bhubaneswar: Two Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) have been accused of forging the Odisha Assembly Deputy Speaker’s signature and using fake documents to obtain transfers, prompting a police complaint against them.

The accused have been identified as Monalisa Behera, AEE of Banspal block, and Laxman Hembram, AEE of Harichandanpur block.

The complaint was lodged at the Capital Police Station by Niranjan Kumar Sahu, Personal Secretary to Deputy Speaker Bhawani Shankar Bhoi.

According to the complaint, the two officials allegedly forged the Deputy Speaker’s signature and misused an official DO (Demi-Official) letter pad to prepare fabricated documents. These were reportedly submitted to the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department in an attempt to obtain transfers to Bargaon and Sadar blocks in Sundargarh district.

The Deputy Speaker’s office clarified the letters in question were neither issued nor authorised by it, confirming them to be forged.

The complaint cites serious offences, including forgery of government documents, impersonation, criminal conspiracy, and violations under the Information Technology Act.

Sahu has urged police to register a case and initiate stringent legal action against those involved. Further investigation is underway.
