Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and a scooter on National Highway (NH)-55 in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.

The mishap took place in Dhenkanal town in the evening.

Three persons were travelling on the scooter when it collided with the car coming from the opposite direction. One among them died on the spot while the two others sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

The locals rescued the injured duo and rushed them to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, one among the two was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The other injured person has been shifted to a hospital in Cuttack city after his condition deteriorated.

The identities of the deceased duo and the injured man are yet to be known.

On being informed, the Dhenkanal Town police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
