Khallikote: A 20-year-old man died after suffering an electric shock while refilling distilled water in a household inverter at Khojapalli village under Khallikote police limits in Odisha's Ganjam district on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Pandi (20).

According to reports, Deepak was adding distilled water to the inverter at his home when he accidentally came into contact with electricity and suffered a severe electric shock. Family members immediately rescued him and rushed him to the Khallikote Hospital for treatment.

However, his family alleged that the poor condition of the road connecting the village to the hospital delayed his transportation, preventing him from receiving timely medical attention. Doctors at the hospital declared Deepak dead on arrival.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Khojapalli village. Police have reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
