Bhubaneswar: Three judges of the Orissa High Court in Cuttack today came to office by riding cycles amid call for fuel conservation in view of the global energy crisis caused by the Middle East war.

Justice Savitri Ratho, Justice V. Narasingh and Justice Sibo Sankar Mishra reached the Orissa HC from their residences on cycles.

This is perhaps the first occasion when the judges of the Orissa HC shunned their official vehicles and rode cycles to reach office, locals said.

Earlier, the Centre as well as the state government have urged people to conserve fuel as part of the preparedness to deal with the worldwide energy crisis.

The people have been urged to avoid personal vehicles and utilize the public transport system to conserve fuel.

Setting an example for others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi have cut down the strength of their official cavalcades by half.
