Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested a 57-year-old man on charges of raping and impregnating his minor niece in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The incident took place in Madanpur Rampur area of Kalahandi. The police have arrested accused Tahasil Rana and produced him in a local court after registering a case against him under various Sections of the BNS and POCSO Act.

As per reports, Rana had allegedly raped his niece thrice in a mango orchard around six months ago. He had threatened the victim not to reveal the incident to anyone.

However, the minor girl narrated her ordeal before her parents after she was found pregnant. The victim’s parents had lodged a complaint in this regard with Madanpur Rampur police two days ago.

“We have arrested the accused and produced him in a court after registering a case against him. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” said Madanpur Rampur IIC Sanjukta Pradhan.
