Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has detected substantial assets allegedly linked to Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer of the Central Irrigation Circle, during simultaneous searches at multiple locations.
According to an official press release, a large number of movable and immovable properties have been unearthed in the name of Mohanty and his family members. The findings include a palatial triple-storeyed residential building spread over around 3000 square feet at Baramunda Housing Board Colony in Bhubaneswar.
In addition, a farmhouse with a double-storeyed structure has been traced at Bimbol in the Bhapur area of Dhenkanal district.
The Vigilance team has also identified five valuable plots, including one in Bhubaneswar and four in the same Dhenkanal locality. Detailed measurement and valuation of these properties are currently underway by the Vigilance Technical Wing.
During the searches, cash amounting to Rs 6.23 lakh and bank deposits worth over Rs 60 lakh were also recovered. Gold ornaments have been found, and their exact weight and value are being assessed.
Investigators are further verifying expenditure details, including flight tickets worth around Rs 13.47 lakh reportedly incurred by Mohanty.
Vigilance officials stated that searches are still continuing and more details are expected as the investigation progresses.
