Bhubaneswar: Within a week of the resignation of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, another Odisha-cadre IPS officer has resigned from service, marking a rare back-to-back exit of young officers from the cadre.

Trainee officer quits before field posting

C.A. Ramdas, a 2025-batch IPS probationer, has tendered his resignation while undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.

The 33-year-old officer, a native of Maharashtra, was recently allotted the Odisha cadre after clearing the Civil Services Examination. He is currently in the first phase of foundational IPS training and has not yet undergone field training or taken up any assignment in Odisha.

Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania confirmed that Ramdas has submitted his resignation. However, the reasons behind his decision are yet to be known.

The latest development comes close on the heels of the resignation of Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena. A 2013-batch IPS officer, Meena cited personal reasons for stepping down from service, although his resignation is yet to receive formal approval from the competent authority.

The back-to-back resignations of two young Odisha-cadre IPS officers within such a short span have drawn attention in administrative circles. While the reasons behind the two exits appear to be unrelated, the unusual development has sparked discussions within the police establishment.

Some officials believe the government should examine the circumstances behind the consecutive resignations to understand whether they reflect isolated personal decisions or point to broader concerns requiring attention. No official statement has been issued by the state government on the matter.
