Bhubaneswar: A girl from Odisha died after she was allegedly hit by a speeding Aston Martin car in Hyderabad.
The deceased has been identified as Bharati Mukhi (26). She was working as a sales executive at a store inside Inorbit Mall in the Telangana capital.
The police have identified Lingamaneni Sanjush (21), son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP and Jana Sena leader Lingamaneni Ramesh, as the accused in the case.
According to the cops, the Aston Martin car hit Bharati while she and a few of her friends were trying to cross the road near the Inorbit Mall on August 16.
Bharati sustained severe head injuries in the accident. The locals rescued the woman sales executive and rushed her to a hospital at Jubilee Hills. However, she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
A video of the mishap later went viral on social media. The Madhapur police in Hyderabad registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by the manager of the store and launched a probe.
The cops have seized the Aston Martin car, bearing registration number TG-09-G-0666, as part of the investigation.
However, the police have not arrested the accused who was reportedly driving the luxury car at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner.
“We have registered a case under Section 106 (1) of the BNS and seized the Aston Martin car. The accused’s blood sample has been sent for forensic examination,” said a police officer.
