Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a Class 11 student died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment building in Bhubaneswar during a visit to a female friend on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Rafan Khurshid, a resident of Laxmi Sagar. He was a student of ODM Public School, and his father is employed with a private bank.

Providing details about the incident, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said Rafan had visited his friend’s flat located on the 10th floor of the apartment building in Niladri Vihar area. When the girl’s mother arrived at the flat, Rafan reportedly hid in the bathroom out of fear. Later, when the girl and her mother checked, he was found missing.

Preliminary investigation suggests Rafan may have exited through the bathroom window and accidentally fallen through the building’s plumbing duct from the 10th floor. He died due to the impact of the fall.

The DCP described the incident as a tragic outcome involving adolescents and clarified there is no indication of murder or foul play at this stage.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
