Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested a person on charges of duping several people by posing as an Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Odisha capital here.

The arrested has been identified as Rajnikanta Mohanty.

According to police, Mohanty had allegedly caused damage to the vehicle of a resident of Unit-III area of the city. He had also threatened the man by identifying himself as a senior police officer.

The victim had lodged a complaint in this regard with Kharvel Nagar police. The cops initiated a probe on the basis of the complaint and arrested the Mohanty.

During investigation, the police came to know that Mohanty had either duped or threatened several persons in the city by posing as an Additional SP.   

He reportedly used a fake identity card to dupe the victims.
