Bhubaneswar: A minor boy died allegedly due to medical negligence and wrong injection at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar city.

The incident sparked tension on premises of the state-run hospital on Tuesday.

According to reports, the 11-year-old Sai of Kalupada village in Tangi area reportedly fell from his bicycle on Monday morning, following which he complained of illness. His family initially admitted him to a nearby hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, the family shifted him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced care.
However, he died while undergoing treatment at the state-run facility.

Family alleges wrong injection, medical negligence

Unable to bear the sudden and tragic loss, the grieving family alleged that Sai’s death was caused due to incorrect treatment by doctors and a wrong injection administered by a staff nurse at the hospital.

Following the boy’s death, tension prevailed outside the hospital’s post-mortem centre, where the family members gathered on Tuesday. In view of the tense situation, police forces were deployed outside the hospital to maintain law and order.

Congress leader and former Jatani MLA Suresh Kumar Routray reached the spot and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident, seeking accountability and a thorough investigation into the alleged medical negligence.
