Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will construct a new bridge over Kathajodi river to ensure a direct and faster connectivity between the capital city and Cuttack.

The State Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, today approved the lowest turnkey bid for the proposed bridge.

The bridge will be built with an expenditure of Rs 158.88 crore. A target has been set to complete the construction work within 36 months, said Chief Secretary Anu Garg while briefing the media.

The high level bridge will be constructed near the Subash Chandra Bose Setu over Kathajodi. “The proposed bridge will ease traffic congestion on NH-16 that connects the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,” added the Chief Secretary.

The state government has a plan for eight-laning of the road connecting Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP). So, the proposed bridge over Kathajodi will ensure a direct and faster connectivity to Cuttack city, stated the Chief Secretary.
