Bhubaneswar: Western Odisha town of Jharsuguda became the hottest place in the country on Wednesday as it recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.4 Degree Celsius in the afternoon.

Banda in Uttar Pradesh is the second hottest place in India with maximum temperature at 44.2 Degree C at 2.30 pm, followed by Akola and Wardha in Maharashtra at 43.6 Degree C.

Amraoti (43.4), Daltonganj (43.4), Yeotmal (43.4), Jamshedpur (43.3), Bankura (43.2), and Prayagraj/Ghoopur and Sambalpur in Odisha (43.2) are among India’s 10 hottest places on Wednesday, said the IMD.

IMD regional centre, meanwhile, issued heatwave warning for several districts in Odisha. As per the prediction, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Balangir, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur till April 24.

Besides, several other districts including Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sonepur, Boudh and Angul may witness hot and humid conditions till April 27.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 41 Degree C by 2.30 pm on Wednesday, said the IMD regional centre.
