Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested a realtor on charges of duping a home buyer of Rs 52 lakh on the pretext of providing a duplex at Phulnakhara on the outskirts of the Odisha capital.

The Pahala police arrested accused Priyabrata Mohanty and produced him in a local court after registering a case against him on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.

As per reports, victim Sanghamitra Sahoo had paid around Rs 52 lakh to Mohanty for buying a duplex at Phulnakhara on the outskirts of the capital city.

Sahoo had paid the money through various modes including online transactions, UPI, cheques and cash to buy the property.

However, Mohanty allegedly failed to execute the sale deed or complete the registration of the duplex.

“During investigation, the realtor has confessed to the offence. We came to know that he had been booked in several cases of cheating in the past,” said a police officer.
