Bhubaneswar: A leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Dam Karlakhunta under Madanpur Rampur police limits in the evening.

The deceased has been identified as Fakir Rana, a senior BJP leader and husband of Dam Karlakhunta Sarpanch Snigdha Rana.

As per reports, the miscreants attacked Rana with knives near the panchayat office at around 8 pm and fled the spot.

Rana sustained grievous injuries in the attack. The locals rescued the injured BJP leader and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
