Gunupur: The body of a 20-year-old BTech student was recovered from a rented house in Barun Nagar Lane-1 under Gunupur Municipality in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Kaushik Mahapatra, a second-year Civil Engineering student at Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) University. He was reportedly a native of the Soro area in Baleshwar district.

According to reports, Kaushik was living alone in the rented accommodation. His body was found hanging inside the house.

The circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. The exact reason behind the suspected suicide has not yet been ascertained.

His family members have been informed about the incident. Further details are awaited.
