Udala: Passenger bus services remained suspended in Udala of Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Sunday after the Udala Motor Workers' Association called for a strike, protesting the alleged delay in the arrest of those involved in the brutal assault on bus conductor Rabindra Parichha.

The association announced the shutdown during a press conference held on Saturday, where its members strongly criticised the police for their handling of the case. Association secretary Harish Chandra Das alleged that two suspects had earlier been detained by the police but were later released without any action.

As a result of the strike, no passenger buses operated from Udala since Sunday morning, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Following the association's protest call, Udala police conducted raids on Saturday and arrested four persons allegedly involved in the assault on the bus conductor. According to the latest reports, the accused were brought to the Udala Hospital for medical examination before being produced in court.

Association's president Manoranjan Mohanty said the strike would be withdrawn after the accused are produced before the court.
